About the Role
As a Claim Specialist II in the Property and Casualty team at Nationwide, you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving property damage claims of moderate severity and complexity. What You Will Do
- Investigate and evaluate property damage claims to determine the extent of damage and coverage
- Negotiate and resolve claims in a fair and timely manner, ensuring compliance with company quality standards
- Manage the work and performance of vendors to achieve successful resolution of claims
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with insureds to gather and share pertinent information
- Provide timely and appropriate evaluation of claims to identify and manage reserves according to company standards
- Maintain current knowledge of all insurance lines, court decisions, and policy changes that may impact the claim function
- Attend seminars and training sessions to stay up-to-date on industry developments and best practices
- Collaborate with other claims professionals to share knowledge and best practices
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance the claims handling experience
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of insurance policies, including coverage and exclusions
What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree preferred, with additional education in insurance or a related field a plus
- 2-3 years of property claims handling experience, with commercial claims property experience preferred
- Prior experience in multi-jurisdictional, E&S, or specialty lines a plus
- Familiarity with various types of insurance policies, including property and casualty
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, both verbally and in writing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex claims and make sound decisions
- Ability to build and maintain open and trusting working relationships with insureds and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of commercial insurance and E&S or specialty insurance
- Familiarity with property damage estimating and insurance industry software
