About the Role
The Claims Processing Agent role at Mindrift is a freelance opportunity that involves working on project-based AI initiatives for leading tech companies. This position focuses on testing, evaluating, and improving AI systems, particularly in the context of insurance claims processing. As a key member of this project, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, coverage correctness, and regulatory compliance of AI-generated auto insurance claims decisions.Day-to-day, this role entails a deep dive into the intricacies of insurance claims, legal services, and financial regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in designing scenarios to test the robustness of AI systems, evaluating fraud-flagging scenarios, and building test cases that apply state-specific negligence rules. This is a unique chance to apply your knowledge and experience in a dynamic, remote environment.

What You Will Do
- Evaluate AI-generated auto insurance claims decisions for accuracy, ensuring they align with current regulations and coverage policies.
- Design First Notice of Loss (FNOL) scenarios that include deliberate contradictions, decoy files, and outdated documents to assess the robustness of AI agents.
- Develop and grade fraud-flagging scenarios using structured reason codes, such as late reporting or inconsistent damage, for Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referral.
- Create subrogation test cases that apply state-specific negligence rules, comparing comparative versus contributory negligence, to assess the likelihood of recovery.
- Document test cases clearly, including correct answers, policy citations, and payout calculations, to ensure transparency and repeatability.
- Collaborate with the project team to discuss findings, provide insights, and contribute to the improvement of AI systems.
- Participate in regular project meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and future directions.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and guidelines for AI testing and evaluation in the insurance claims context.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and advancements in AI technology to ensure the projects' relevance and compliance.
What We Are Looking For
- A degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in insurance, claims, legal, or financial services, with a focus on claims adjusting or adjacent roles.
- Current or recent experience in claims and adjusting, or related fields, with a strong understanding of auto insurance coverage decisions.
- Familiarity with state-specific negligence rules and adjuster authority-limit culture.
- Strong written English skills (C1+), with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
- AIC, CPCU, CIFI, or SCLA credential, though not required if hands-on experience is substantial.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using digital tools for project management, communication, and documentation.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI or machine learning projects, especially in the insurance or financial sector.
- Knowledge of programming languages or data analysis tools, which could be beneficial for data-driven decision making.
