About the Role
The role of a Cleaner at Bendigo Advertiser is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of their retail site. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for a range of cleaning tasks, from general cleaning to implementing wet weather procedures. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in ensuring that all areas of the site are clean and well-maintained.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include working in a fast-paced environment, often with limited supervision. You will need to be able to prioritize tasks effectively and manage your time to ensure that all areas of the site are cleaned to a high standard. As part of a team, you will also be required to work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure that the site is always presentable and safe for customers.
What You Will Do
- Clean and maintain all areas of the retail site, including common areas and toilets
- Collect waste from designated waste stations and dispose of it in a responsible manner
- Implement wet weather procedures, including displaying wet floor or hazard signage
- Report any hazards or incidents to the relevant authorities
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained, used, and stored correctly
- Use appropriate chemicals for cleaning purposes, ensuring safe work practices are maintained
- Maintain wet floor areas, including common areas and toilets
- Comply with hygiene policies and procedures, as well as infection control policies and procedures
- Report any maintenance requirements to the relevant authorities
- Ensure that all areas of the site are clean and well-maintained at all times
What We Are Looking For
- Experience working in a high-paced environment, preferably in retail cleaning
- Previous window cleaning experience
- A good eye for detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with confidence in communicating with people from diverse backgrounds
- Customer service experience, working with the general public
- Machinery experience, including ride-on scrubbers, ride-on sweepers, and buffers
- Reliable, punctual, and well-presented
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Flexible and able to work full-time or part-time shifts, including day, evening, and weekends
- Own transport preferred, as public transport is limited
- Current police check

- Experience working with a variety of cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Knowledge of hygiene and infection control policies and procedures
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies
- Experience working in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and communication
- Basic first aid training
