About the Role
The Cloudera Platform Administrator role is a critical position that entails managing, supporting, and maintaining a large-scale Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) environment within a 24x7 banking operations setting. This role is part of a team that ensures platform stability, availability, scalability, and security across Production, Disaster Recovery (DR), UAT, SIT, and Development environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Cloudera platform administration, Hadoop ecosystem management, Linux systems administration, cluster operations, security management, performance tuning, and production support.As a key member of the team, the Cloudera Platform Administrator will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve platform issues, drive automation initiatives, and contribute to service improvement initiatives. The role requires a deep understanding of distributed systems architecture, troubleshooting, and security administration.
What You Will Do
- Administer and support Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters across multiple environments
- Manage and maintain Hadoop ecosystem services including HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala, Spark, Kafka, NiFi, ZooKeeper, Oozie, Ranger, Atlas, and Hue
- Perform cluster provisioning, configuration, expansion, decommissioning, and lifecycle management
- Execute Cloudera platform upgrades, patches, hotfix deployments, and version migrations
- Monitor cluster health, resource utilization, and platform performance using Cloudera Manager and monitoring tools
- Perform capacity planning, storage management, and infrastructure optimization
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for the Cloudera environment
- Provide 24x7 operational support for critical banking data platforms
- Participate in on-call support rotations and major incident management activities
- Conduct routine health checks, preventive maintenance, and operational housekeeping activities
- Administer authentication and authorization mechanisms including LDAP, Active Directory, Kerberos, Ranger, and SSO integrations
- Manage platform security configurations, certificates, encryption, and access controls
- Support security audits, vulnerability remediation, compliance reviews, and regulatory requirements
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Cloudera CDP/CDH platforms in enterprise environments
- Strong experience managing Hadoop ecosystem components including HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala, Spark, Kafka, NiFi, ZooKeeper, Ranger, Atlas, and Hue
- Strong experience with Cloudera administration and cluster operations
- Proven experience performing cluster installation and deployment, platform upgrades and migrations, patch management, capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery support
- Strong Linux/Unix administration experience (RHEL/CentOS preferred)
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems architecture and troubleshooting
- Experience with security administration including LDAP, Active Directory, Kerberos, TLS/SSL certificates, Ranger, and SSO integration
- Experience supporting mission-critical production environments with strict SLA requirements
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Knowledge of cloud-based platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with containerization using Docker or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
- Certification in Cloudera administration or related fields
