About the Role
The Strategic Planning Manager role at JerseySTEM is a unique opportunity to connect with community organizations and explore ways to partner with them to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls. This pro-bono volunteer position requires a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week. As a Strategic Planning Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining connections with external organizations, thinking creatively to arrange partnerships, and presenting virtual presentations to community groups.The role is part of a virtual organization that utilizes digital tools such as G-Suite, Slack, Jira, and Salesforce. You will be working closely with a team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about addressing the STEM education gender gap. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the lives of middle school girls in New Jersey, and you will be part of a mission-driven network of pro-bono contributors.
JerseySTEM's goal is to improve access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls. As a Strategic Planning Manager, you will play a key role in achieving this goal by identifying potential partners, building relationships, and developing strategies for collaboration.
What You Will Do
- Seek out connections at community organizations such as the YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, and the Urban League
- Make virtual presentations to community groups to explore partnership opportunities
- Attend a weekly virtual team meeting on Sundays at 6pm EST
- Think outside the box to develop creative arrangements for partnerships
- Establish and maintain connections with external organizations
- Explore ideas for partnership and collaboration with community organizations
- Work closely with the team to achieve JerseySTEM's mission
- Utilize digital tools such as G-Suite, Slack, Jira, and Salesforce to manage work and communicate with the team
- Be flexible and adaptable in a virtual work environment
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop new ideas for partnerships and collaborations
What We Are Looking For
- Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gap
- Ability to establish and maintain connections with external organizations
- Ability to think outside of the box and be creative in arrangements
- Resourceful, can-do attitude
- Outreach experience preferred
- Comfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, Salesforce)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to commit to a minimum of six months
Nice to Have
- Experience working with community organizations or non-profits
- Knowledge of the STEM education landscape in New Jersey
- Familiarity with Salesforce and other digital tools
- Experience with virtual presentations and online communication
