About the Role

The Commercial Counsel role at Elevenlabs is a critical position that supports the company's expansion across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). As part of the Legal Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for navigating complex commercial transactions, including SaaS, licensing, and strategic partnerships, while ensuring compliance with diverse legal and regulatory frameworks in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.

Day-to-day, this role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, with a primary focus on GTM/Sales transactions in EMEA. The Commercial Counsel will work closely with global colleagues to provide practical, business-oriented advice that enables growth while managing risk across multiple jurisdictions. This is a high-velocity environment where lean autonomous teams and minimal bureaucracy facilitate rapid experimentation and innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, with a focus on GTM/Sales transactions in EMEA
  • Partner with sales, business development, and operations teams to design and implement strategies that support high-growth go-to-market initiatives
  • Monitor and interpret evolving European legal and regulatory developments, including data protection, technology, and AI-related frameworks
  • Develop, maintain, and localize contract templates, playbooks, and policies to reflect regional requirements and industry best practices
  • Provide clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal advice to cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to scaling the Legal Team, ensuring that legal counsel aligns with the company's growth objectives
  • Collaborate with the global legal team to ensure consistency and compliance across all regions
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and legal developments, applying this knowledge to improve contract drafting and risk assessment
  • Support the development of training programs for sales and business development teams on legal and compliance issues

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience as a commercial counsel or in a similar legal role, preferably in the technology or AI sector
  • Strong understanding of commercial law, including SaaS, licensing, and strategic partnerships
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks, including data protection and technology laws
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Strong business acumen and ability to provide practical, commercially focused advice
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including sales, business development, and operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with global teams
  • Fluency in English, with additional languages being an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
