About the Role
The Commercial FinOps Lead plays a critical role in Supabase's success, serving as the primary point of contact for cloud and SaaS vendor management. This role is responsible for driving commercial efficiency, negotiating contracts, and ensuring procurement governance. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with Finance, Engineering, and Legal to ensure seamless vendor relationships and optimal spend management.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FinOps, procurement, or technical analysis, with a proven track record of driving business growth and efficiency. You will be expected to own the commercial and vendor-management function, leading negotiations and renewals, enforcing procurement governance, and applying the VIA operating model to keep vendor spend disciplined and well-governed.

What You Will Do
- Own vendor relationships: Run our primary cloud and SaaS vendor relationships end-to-end, leading renewals and negotiations alongside Finance and Legal.
- Run procurement governance: Enforce our competitive-bid process for incoming requests and manage larger procurement through our managed-procurement partner.
- Drive commercial VIA: Own spend visibility and unit economics, surface licensing and usage inefficiency before it becomes a surprise, and drive renewals, right-sizing, and tooling consolidation to realized savings.
- Build reporting and governance: Vendor and SaaS cost reporting is a key area of focus, and you will be responsible for building the dashboards and reporting hands-on, partnering with our data teams to scale them, and owning the governance layer.
- Coordinate the cloud efficiency program: Keep optimization initiatives visible and tracked from commitment to realized savings, partnering with Engineering without taking over their delivery.
- Hold the boundary on the role: You own the analytical, commercial, efficiency, and program side of vendor management, while ensuring that procurement partners and FinOps keep oversight and accountability.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, Finance, Engineering, and Legal.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in FinOps, procurement, and vendor management.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in vendor/commercial management, procurement, FinOps, or technical/financial analysis, at a senior, function-owning level.
- Proven track record of driving business growth and efficiency through commercial negotiations, procurement governance, and FinOps.
- Strong background in finance, engineering, or technical analysis, with a deep understanding of cloud and SaaS vendor management.
- Experience with cloud services, such as AWS, GCP, and Cloudflare.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with vendors, stakeholders, and team members.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, async environment, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong judgment and ability to hold a position and drive alignment without positional authority.
Nice to Have
- Experience with SQL, BI tools, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with vendor and cloud spend data, including AWS, GCP, and SaaS billing.
- Knowledge of licensing and usage analysis, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and drive cost savings.
- Experience working with managed-procurement partners and enforcing competitive-bid processes.
- Certification in FinOps, procurement, or a related field.
