About the Role
The Commercial Operations Manager role at GE Vernova is a critical position that requires a unique blend of contract management, risk assessment, and commercial operations expertise. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for driving commercial operations and risk management initiatives, ensuring compliance with contract commitments, and negotiating contracts that minimize business risk. The role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including sales teams, legal, and finance, to ensure that commercial objectives are met while maintaining operational excellence.The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of contract management principles, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. You will be expected to provide systematic and efficient analysis of contracts, identifying areas of risk and developing strategies to minimize exposure. Your expertise in Salesforce and Excel will be essential in managing and analyzing contract data, identifying trends, and developing insights that inform business decisions.
What You Will Do
- Review and redline customer terms and conditions (T&Cs) and other commercial and contractual documents to ensure compliance with GE Vernova's policies and procedures
- Lead and finalize contractual schemes, industrial models, and engage with stakeholders, including tax, legal, commercial finance, controllers, operations, and EHS
- Identify and register identified risks in the Risk Assessment Matrix tool and Salesforce Tool, and build and operate Risk Review sessions to drive early engagement, strategy development, and approvals
- Own the ComOps and respective risk process, including the use of tools and governance instances, ensuring development of consistent operations in ITO, adherent to GE Vernova's policies, processes, and metrics
- Draft, discuss, and negotiate NDA, Consortium Agreements, declaration forms, etc. with potential partners
- Develop commercial expertise across regional commercial and sales teams to ensure implementation of Grid risk policies and standardized best practices
- Support ITO teams by applying KPIs and challenging risk/opportunity assessment, and propose mitigation strategies
- Partner with Region Sales teams in strategy development to create winning proposals and meet or exceed the region's plan for orders and financial KPIs
- Support and drive change management process to improve commercial processes, reduce cycle times and costs, and improve service quality
- Support projects Terms and Conditions review from inquiry to bid award
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, legal, engineering, or a related area from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial operations, contract management, sales, risk mitigation, tendering, bid management, and/or project management role
- Strong contractual and negotiation skills
- Fluency in English, French, and Arabic
- Experience with Salesforce and Excel
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of electrical transmission or power projects
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with Lean Adaptability Self-sufficiency and Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience in developing complex proposals or structuring complex deals
- In-depth knowledge of contractual terms and conditions, risk management, and experience in structuring and negotiating contracts to minimize business risk
- Ability to think strategically and be operationally rigorous
- Familiarity with the use and function of CRMs (Customer Relationship Management)
- Independence in achieving commercial objectives within operating budgets and operating guidelines
