About the Role

The commercial team at Plaid plays a critical role in driving the company's growth and success. As a commercial expert, you'll be responsible for managing key customer contracts, developing pricing strategies, and negotiating deals with top fintech and financial services companies. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, account management, and partnerships, to identify new business opportunities and drive revenue growth.

The commercial team is a key part of Plaid's go-to-market strategy, and you'll be expected to provide expertise and guidance on commercial matters. You'll also be responsible for crafting repeatable, robust commercial processes that can be scaled across the organization. What You Will Do

  • Collaborate closely with Plaid's sales, account management, and partnerships teams to negotiate key customer contracts
  • Develop pricing strategies that work for Plaid, prospects, and existing customers
  • Drive successful renewals, upsells, and cross-sells with top customers to increase usage and adoption of key Plaid products
  • Craft commercial terms and agreements that underpin the relationships between Plaid and its customers
  • Serve as a thought partner and subject matter expert on commercial matters for the go-to-market teams
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify new business opportunities and drive revenue growth
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the fintech industry, including market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments
  • Provide guidance and support on commercial matters to the sales, account management, and partnerships teams
  • Help to develop and implement commercial processes and procedures that can be scaled across the organization

What We Are Looking For

  • 4-7 years of experience in strategic sales, business development, finance/consulting, partnerships, or GTM strategy
  • Proven track record of negotiating complex deals, including multi-product or multi-party agreements in regulated industries
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, legal, engineering, and GTM teams to shape deals and align priorities
  • Strong executive communication skills and the ability to confidently engage senior external stakeholders
  • Experience building scalable commercial frameworks, including pricing strategies and decision processes
  • Deep interest in fintech, open finance, and technical products, with the ability to understand and advocate for product capabilities in commercial conversations
  • Comfort with ambiguity and change, with a bias for action and a growth mindset suited to fast-paced, high-growth environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and make informed decisions
