About the Role
As a Communication Specialist II at Sphera, you will play a vital role in preparing regulatory-compliant Safety Data Sheet (SDS) documents for international customers. Your expertise in managing and optimizing environmental, health, safety, and sustainability regulations will be crucial in driving business success. You will be part of a rapidly expanding team with a strong commitment to exceptional performance and uncompromising integrity.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve authoring SDS/Labels for external customers, searching various reference sources, and performing evaluations according to toxicological, environmental, chemical, and physical properties. You will also be responsible for quality control and regulatory compliance reviews of SDS/Labels prepared by other team members. As a Communication Specialist II, you will be an integral part of Sphera's team, working closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality services to clients.
What You Will Do
- Author regulatory compliant SDS/Labels for external customers for the US, EU, CA, and other countries
- Search various reference sources and supplier SDS for required information and apply techniques to reconcile discrepancies in the sources
- Perform evaluations according to toxicological, environmental, chemical, and physical properties for the determination of hazards of substances and chemical products
- Perform quality control and regulatory compliance reviews of SDS/Labels prepared by other team members
- Assist in establishing the details of the SDS/Labels content to be delivered contractually
- Provide related services such as regulatory training, performing compliance reviews, writing procedures, and providing consultation services
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery of services
- Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and procedures
What We Are Looking For
- University degree in Science (Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology, Environment, Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene) or Chemical Engineering
- Knowledge of at least two of the following: REACH, GHS, OSHA, WHMIS, IATA, IMDG, ADR, ADNR, TDG, DOT
- 1-5 years of work experience in sciences: Biology/Chemistry applications, Health/Safety/Environmental regulations, and/or toxicology
- Experience in product stewardship or regulatory affairs
- Experience as a user of EH&S related software
- Consulting experience
- Self-starting and motivated individual with attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Strong regulatory analytical skills and troubleshooting skills
- Reliable and takes pride in work
- Excellent team worker with good verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Experience in a similar role with a proven track record of success
- Knowledge of additional regulations and standards
- Certification in a relevant field, such as CSP or CIH
- Experience with project management tools and software
