About the Role

The Community Outreach Coordinator role at the State of Arizona is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and local communities. As a key member of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing community outreach strategies to promote environmental awareness, education, and community science initiatives. Your day-to-day work will involve fostering relationships with diverse communities, attending in-person events, and collaborating with internal partners to drive the department's mission forward.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies to promote environmental awareness, education, and community science initiatives
  • Foster relationships with diverse communities, including local organizations, schools, community groups, and internal staff
  • Attend in-person events to facilitate community participation in science and conservation efforts
  • Collaborate with internal partners to develop and execute comprehensive community engagement plans
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools, community groups, and other stakeholders
  • Manage outreach supplies using appropriate technology platforms to track use of items related to outreach and events
  • Develop educational materials and programs for schools, community centers, and public events to raise awareness about environmental issues
  • Conduct presentations, workshops, and hands-on activities to engage diverse audiences in environmental learning and stewardship
  • Work with trans-boundary partners to advance collaboration on improving education and approaches
  • Coordinate CORE3 meetings, assist on agendas, and collaborate with internal partners to produce best internal relationships

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in community outreach, environmental conservation, or a related field
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with technology platforms
  • Proven ability to foster relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in developing and executing community engagement plans
  • Knowledge of environmental issues and conservation efforts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
