Job Description

## About the Role The Compliance Lead for Fair Lending at Affirm plays a critical role in ensuring the company's adherence to regulatory requirements. This position involves collaborating with various teams, including Legal, Product, Credit, and Engineering, to identify and mitigate fair lending risk. As a key member of the Compliance team, the successful candidate will report to the Director of Fair Lending and work closely with cross-functional teams to embed fair lending considerations into product design and decision-making processes. The Compliance team at Affirm is responsible for designing and implementing a compliance program that enables the company to proactively adhere to regulatory requirements. This includes advisory, guidance, training, independent testing, monitoring, reporting, escalation, and oversight. As the second line of defense, compliance works proactively with the business to support new products, markets, and initiatives, change management, issue identification, and remediation plans. Affirm is committed to delivering honest financial products, and the Compliance Lead for Fair Lending will be instrumental in ensuring that the company's fair lending program is robust and effective. This role requires a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, including ECOA/Reg B and UDAAP, as well as the ability to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions in a fast-evolving fintech landscape. ## What You Will Do - Support second-line oversight of fair lending risk across the full credit lifecycle - Partner with Product, Credit, Machine Learning, Engineering, and Legal to embed fair lending considerations into product design, model development, and go-to-market decisions - Own and evolve key components of Affirm's Fair Lending Program, including governance, risk assessments, monitoring, and testing frameworks - Provide clear, actionable guidance on complex regulatory expectations and translate them into practical solutions across the product lifecycle - Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment on compliance risk - Collaborate with the Legal team to stay up-to-date on regulatory developments and ensure that Affirm's fair lending program is aligned with latest requirements - Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on fair lending regulations and compliance requirements - Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential fair lending risks and develop strategies to mitigate them - Work closely with the Engineering team to design and implement fair lending controls and monitoring systems - Participate in regulatory exams and audits, providing expertise and support as needed ## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or regulatory roles within financial services, with specific experience supporting Fair and Responsible Lending programs and regulations - Strong understanding of Fair Lending Compliance Management Systems, including risk assessments, testing, governance, and issue management across complex products and models - Experience partnering with technical and business teams to evaluate and mitigate risk in models and decision systems - Ability to navigate ambiguity, apply regulatory judgment, and make informed decisions in a fast-evolving fintech and regulatory landscape - Clear, concise communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics and influence stakeholders at all levels - Highly organized, with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop effective solutions - Experience with regulatory exams and audits, including preparation, execution, and remediation ## Nice to Have - Experience with machine learning and data analytics, including the ability to design and implement fair lending controls and monitoring systems - Knowledge of cloud-based compliance management systems and tools - Certification in compliance, such as CCEP or CSCP - Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems ## Benefits and Perks - Competitive salary and equity package - Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance - 401(k) matching program - Flexible PTO policy and remote work arrangements - Access to professional development and training programs - Opportunities for career growth and advancement - Collaborative and dynamic work environment - Recognition and reward programs for outstanding performance
