About the Role

The Compliance Operations Specialist role is a critical component of Twilio's efforts to ensure that customer activity on its platform adheres to industry rules and internal policies. This role is part of the Compliance Operations team and involves reviewing alerts and account activity for messaging and voice traffic to assess compliance with Twilio's policies and regulatory requirements. The team works closely with customers to resolve compliance issues and enforce policies when necessary.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role are varied and challenging, requiring a combination of analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. The Compliance Operations Specialist will work independently to review account activity, identify potential compliance issues, and take corrective action. This may involve communicating directly with customers to resolve issues, analyzing trends to prevent future abuse, and collaborating with internal teams to improve compliance processes.

What You Will Do

  • Investigate potential compliance violations by reviewing account activity, messaging behavior, and data to identify signs of abuse or misuse.
  • Stop non-compliant activity by using internal tools and available data to mitigate risk and prevent harm to Twilio's customers or consumers.
  • Communicate directly with customers via email to notify them of policy violations, provide guidance on resolving issues, and inform them of any restrictions or terminations.
  • Analyze trends and patterns to prevent future abuse and improve compliance processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including product and engineering, to identify and address compliance risks.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in Twilio's policies, industry regulations, and compliance best practices.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and implement changes to enhance compliance operations.
  • Provide training and support to customers on compliance-related matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in a compliance or related role, preferably in the tech industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with compliance software and tools, such as Zendesk.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as law, business, or computer science.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a remote-first environment.
  • Familiarity with programming languages, such as Python or Java.
  • Certification in compliance or a related field, such as CCEP or CIPP.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
