Job Description

About the Role

As a Construction Inspector at AECOM, you will be responsible for providing on-site inspection, monitoring, reporting, and documentation for municipal infrastructure projects. This includes water and wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution piping, sanitary sewers, and roadway construction. Your role will be critical in ensuring that work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and regulatory standards.

The construction industry is evolving rapidly, with technological advancements and increasing demands for sustainability. As a Construction Inspector, you will need to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices. Your expertise will help ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

You will be working closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and municipal staff to resolve field issues and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively will be essential in this role.

What You Will Do

  • Perform daily field inspections of civil infrastructure construction
  • Monitor contractor activities for compliance with project plans, specifications, and municipal standards
  • Document daily construction activities, quantities, and site conditions using inspection reports and photo logs
  • Observe and verify materials, testing procedures, and workmanship
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, utility providers, and municipal staff to resolve field issues
  • Assist with reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders as needed
  • Monitor health and safety compliance on-site
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental requirements
  • Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates
  • Collaborate with the project team to identify and mitigate potential risks
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and municipal staff

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in construction inspection for municipal civil infrastructure
  • Understanding of water, sanitary, storm, and roadway construction methods and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Proficiency with inspection documentation tools, such as tablets and daily logs
  • Familiarity with municipal codes, public works standards, and construction best practices
  • Engineering Technologist Certification (preferred)
  • Prior health and safety experience (preferred)

Nice to Have

  • 8+ years of experience in construction inspection for municipal civil infrastructure
  • Familiarity with project management software and systems

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices
