About the Role

PUBG EMEA is seeking a skilled Contract Writer to support the development of PUBG: Black Budget, a new extraction shooter that promises to redefine the gaming landscape. This role is a unique chance for writers with a passion for the FPS genre and an understanding of military terminology to contribute to a project that requires meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of character development. The successful candidate will be working closely with the development team to craft compelling narratives, dialogues, and overall game content that aligns with the established tone and character voices of the game.

The day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with the team to understand the project's thematic direction, writing high-quality content that resonates with the game's audience, and ensuring that all written material meets the game's quality and narrative standards. What You Will Do

  • Develop and write high-quality narrative content, including but not limited to character backstories, mission briefings, and in-game dialogue.
  • Collaborate with the game development team to ensure narrative consistency and quality across all aspects of the game.
  • Conduct research to deepen understanding of military terminology and the FPS genre to inform and enrich the writing.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas and insights that can enhance the narrative and gameplay experience.
  • Work within established tone and character voice guidelines to maintain consistency across the game.
  • Review and edit written content for clarity, coherence, and overall quality.
  • Participate in feedback sessions to refine and improve written content based on team and stakeholder input.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and developments in game writing and narrative design.
  • Contribute to the development of the game's lore and narrative universe.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience as a writer in the gaming industry, preferably in AAA or AA game development.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates expertise in writing for the FPS genre or similar thematic areas.
  • Strong understanding of narrative structures, character development, and dialogue writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines and milestones.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to take feedback and direction.
