About the Role

The Contracts Manager position at NMDP is a critical role that entails managing contract administration for clinical trials, research projects, and third-party awards. This involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements, as well as ensuring compliance with federal regulations and guidelines. The successful candidate will be working closely with internal stakeholders, including business partners, to develop and execute category strategies and plans.

As a Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for providing project management and contract compliance support across clinical trials and related research projects. This includes managing contract intake, tracking, and stakeholder alignment across multiple contracts, projects, and studies, while working on concurrent deadlines. Your expertise in contract management will be essential in mitigating risks and ensuring that all agreements are compliant with regulatory requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Manage all phases of contract administration for clinical trials, research projects, and third-party awards, from intake to implementation
  • Negotiate complex contracts with multiple parties, handling several trials and other projects with competing deadlines
  • Prepare and review contractual documentation for third-party award submissions, both government and non-government
  • Create appropriate flow-down terms and conditions for each award to be applied to future agreements
  • Provide oversight to ensure that EEO, FAR, OMB, and related Federal requirements are incorporated into individual subcontracts
  • Support NMDP's study networks by negotiating and overseeing contracts throughout the life of a clinical trial
  • Conduct negotiation of contracts and third-party awards, documenting discussions and using sound judgment to seek management approval for the acceptance of legal, financial, and operational terms and conditions
  • Bring contracts to closure by creating acceptable solutions and mitigating NMDP risk
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and execute category strategies and plans
  • Manage contract intake, tracking, and stakeholder alignment across multiple contracts, projects, and studies

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Contracts Administration, Finance, Accounting, Non-profit Management, Business Law, or a related field
  • Five plus years of experience in contract negotiation and administration, with at least three years of experience in contracting for clinical trials, research projects, and/or grant management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements while identifying key risks and implementing practical mitigation strategies
  • Ability to interpret and apply grant and third-party award contracting requirements
  • Ability to manage contract intake, tracking, and stakeholder alignment across multiple contracts, projects, and studies
  • Knowledge of clinical trial management and contracting
  • Experience with government and non-government research grants

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management Systems (e.g., Ironclad)
  • Certification in contract management or a related field
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual team environment
