About the Role
The Corporate Counsel - Supply Chain role at Cummins is a highly visible and dynamic position that supports the company's global Supply Chain organization. As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with stakeholders across six sectors, providing practical and risk-balanced guidance on procurement and transactional matters. With a strong focus on commercial transactions, you will enable business outcomes through pragmatic counsel, balancing legal risk with operational needs to drive speed, efficiency, and consistency.The role is ideal for someone who brings deep expertise in supply chain commercial transactions within a manufacturing or industrial environment and is passionate about the procurement domain. What You Will Do
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to supply chain and procurement leaders, delivering practical, risk-balanced guidance across purchasing, commercial transactions, and supplier relationships
- Independently lead high-volume, complex legal matters, including contract negotiations, dispute resolution, and project support in a fast-paced environment
- Enable business outcomes through pragmatic counsel, balancing legal risk with operational needs to drive speed, efficiency, and consistency
- Strengthen procurement and commercial contracting practices, partnering with stakeholders to implement best practices, provide training, and increase standardization
- Apply deep legal and commercial acumen, translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable insights that support informed decision-making
- Proactively identify and mitigate risk, while driving process improvements that evolve ways of working from reactive to scalable and forward-looking
- Support the development and execution of legal strategies, aligning supply chain and commercial priorities with broader organizational goals
- Enhance team and organizational effectiveness, mentoring junior team members, collaborating with outside counsel, and contributing to initiatives that elevate overall legal support
What We Are Looking For
- Deep expertise in supply chain commercial transactions within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across six sectors
- A consultative mindset, with the ability to provide practical and risk-balanced guidance
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong digital skills, with the ability to work remotely and collaborate with team members globally
- A law degree from a reputable institution, with admission to practice law in the United States
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
