About the Role
The Creative Design Manager role at Plaid is a key position that oversees the development and execution of the company's brand design strategy across all marketing channels. As a member of the Brand Design team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Design, Growth Marketing, and external agencies, to ensure visual consistency and quality in all marketing materials. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include coaching and reviewing the work of brand designers, production designers, and presentation designers, as well as leading creative direction and execution across paid, social, webinars, and campaigns.The Brand Design team at Plaid is a group of talented designers who bring the Plaid brand to life across every channel and surface. As a manager within this team, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's visual identity and contributing to the development of a unified design organization. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with other design leaders to drive the company's design vision forward.

What You Will Do
- Coach, review, and uplevel the craft of brand designers, production designers, and presentation designers
- Lead creative direction and execution across all marketing surfaces, including paid, social, webinars, and campaigns
- Work with Design Ops to manage pipeline and prioritization of incoming marketing requests
- Build and implement scalable systems of Figma templates, production tooling, and creative standards
- Manage external agencies and contractors across production design, creative, and presentation
- Partner with Brand and Growth Marketing leads to concept, plan, and ship campaigns end-to-end
- Uphold Plaid's refreshed brand across all marketing channels and find opportunities to help it evolve
- Contribute to Brand Design leadership, shaping process, culture, and creative direction across the organization
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's brand and marketing strategy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective execution of marketing campaigns
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in brand design and marketing
What We Are Looking For
- 9+ years of professional design experience in brand, visual, or marketing design
- 5+ years of experience managing brand designers, production designers, or both
- A portfolio showing consistent, high-craft execution across multi-channel marketing work
- Strong understanding of brand and performance marketing creative, including paid social, display, email, and landing pages
- Proven ability to work as a player/coach, giving direct feedback while staying close to the craft
- Experience building scalable systems, templates, and self-serve creative tooling
- Experience briefing, managing, and scaling work with external agencies and contractors
- Proficiency with modern efficiency tools, such as Figma, Claude, or similar
- Strong communication skills and a track record of effective cross-functional partnership
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have
- Background in B2B SaaS or fintech
- Experience directing or prompting animation, illustration, or video
- Comfort interpreting creative performance data and translating it into better work
- Experience with design systems and accessibility principles
- Knowledge of front-end development principles and HTML/CSS
