Job Description

About the Role

The Credit and Collections Lead at Openai will play a critical role in scaling the company's global accounts receivable, credit risk, and collections operations. As a key member of the Order to Cash team, you will develop and execute the strategy for customer credit reviews, collections performance, receivables recovery, and complex AR escalations. Your expertise will help Openai extend credit responsibly, improve cash-flow predictability, and reduce bad-debt exposure.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the credit and collections process, with experience in managing global receivables and a proven track record of improving cash collections and reducing aging. You will be responsible for driving process transformation, leveraging AI and automation to improve risk identification, account prioritization, customer outreach, dispute resolution, and exception management.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute the strategic direction for Openai's credit and collections function
  • Own and continuously improve the credit-risk framework for new and existing customers
  • Drive collections performance across Openai's global receivables portfolio
  • Lead resolution of complex and high-value customer escalations
  • Define and execute the AI and automation roadmap for credit and collections
  • Partner with Finance Systems, Product, Engineering, and internal tooling teams to design and operationalize workflows
  • Collaborate with Onboarding, Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Accounting, Billing Operations, and Cash Application teams
  • Develop and refine credit and collections policies, playbooks, approval frameworks, escalation paths, SOPs, and internal controls
  • Support reserve and write-off recommendations, month-end close, audit requests, and control testing

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in credit and collections, preferably in a similar industry
  • Strong understanding of credit and collections processes, including portfolio management and risk assessment
  • Experience with Excel and other financial management tools
  • Proven track record of improving cash collections and reducing aging
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to drive process transformation and leverage AI and automation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a global, fast-paced environment

  • Experience with AI-powered credit and collections tools
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
