Job Description

About the Role

As a Customer Data Scientist at Amplitude, you will be at the forefront of helping companies build better products through data-driven decision making. This role combines deep experimentation expertise, applied statistics, and customer-facing technical consulting to drive the adoption and scaling of modern experimentation programs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, solutions engineering, product, and engineering, to influence the future direction of the Amplitude and Statsig platforms.

Your day-to-day will involve serving as the primary experimentation expert throughout customer evaluations, guiding technical discussions, and advising on experiment design, statistical methodology, and experimentation architecture. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the success of Amplitude's customers and contribute to the development of the company's products.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary experimentation expert throughout customer evaluations, guiding technical discussions from discovery through proof of concept.
  • Partner directly with data scientists, engineers, and technical leaders to advise on experiment design, statistical methodology, measurement frameworks, and experimentation architecture.
  • Help customers build scalable and trustworthy experimentation programs by educating teams on best practices in experimentation, metric development, variance reduction, and results interpretation.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives, Solutions Engineers, Product Managers, and Engineers to accelerate customer success and bring valuable field insights back into product development.
  • Create repeatable frameworks, technical content, and enablement materials that strengthen experimentation expertise across customers and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Amplitude's products and services, including Statsig, to provide informed guidance to customers.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data science, experimentation, and product analytics.
  • Participate in internal initiatives to improve processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development of case studies, whitepapers, and other marketing materials to showcase Amplitude's expertise and customer success stories.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience building, scaling, or supporting experimentation programs within a product-led technology company.
  • Familiarity with experimentation platforms such as Statsig, Eppo, Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of applied statistics, experiment design, and statistical methodology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and product.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Certification in data science, statistics, or a related field.
