About the Role
The Customer Success Engineer - AI SaaS role at mercor is a critical position that requires a unique blend of technical expertise and customer-facing skills. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of mercor's AI-powered SaaS solutions, working closely with customers to resolve technical issues and provide ongoing support. The role is based in Peru and offers the opportunity to work with a leading company in the AI research lab space.The day-to-day responsibilities of the role will involve investigating and resolving customer-reported issues, debugging web applications, and providing technical guidance to customers. You will also work closely with the engineering and product teams to identify and address systemic issues, improve product quality, and enhance the overall customer experience.
What You Will Do
- Investigate and resolve customer-reported issues in a timely and professional manner
- Debug web applications using telemetry, logs, network inspection, and database queries
- Provide technical guidance and support to customers via phone, email, or chat
- Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and address systemic issues
- Develop and maintain clear documentation and runbooks to reduce repeat issues and improve resolution speed
- Communicate with customers, engineering, and product teams with precision, professionalism, and empathy
- Analyze and reproduce bugs, identifying root causes and separating UX friction, model edge cases, and system defects
- Triage issues with sound judgment, escalating true engineering issues and resolving others via configuration, prompt refinement, or clear user guidance
- Surface systemic patterns and product risks to engineering and product leadership
What We Are Looking For
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field from a top-tier institution
- Experience building modern web applications (React, Node, Flask, Next.js, etc.) or 2-5 years of experience supporting customers on such web applications
- Ability to debug web applications and experience with AI systems
- Experience exploring the behavior of AI tools (fine-tuning, prompt chains, chain-of-thought debugging, or building agents)
- Ability to understand model outputs, failure modes, hallucinations, and feedback loops
- Familiarity with modern AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or how agent frameworks (LangChain, AutoGPT, etc.) function
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills

- Experience working with LLMs, agents, or generative models
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and agile development methodologies
