The Customer Success Engineer - AI SaaS role at mercor is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional to bridge the gap between technical talent and AI research labs. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve investigating talent-reported issues, reproducing bugs, and identifying root causes. You will also collaborate with engineering and product leadership to surface systemic patterns and product risks, ultimately contributing to the improvement of mercor's AI SaaS platform.
What You Will Do
- Investigate talent-reported issues end-to-end, reproducing bugs and identifying root causes
- Debug across mercor's AI + SaaS stack using telemetry, logs, network inspection, and database queries
- Triage issues with sound judgment, escalating true engineering issues and resolving others via configuration, prompt refinement, or clear user guidance
- Create clear documentation and runbooks to reduce repeat issues and improve resolution speed
- Communicate with precision, professionalism, and empathy to provide top-notch support to talent
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to surface systemic patterns and product risks
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of mercor's AI model outputs, failure modes, hallucinations, and feedback loops
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI research and technology
- Participate in the development of best practices and standards for AI SaaS customer success
What We Are Looking For
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field from a top-tier institution
- Experience building modern web applications (React, Node, Flask, Next.js, etc.) or 2-5 years of experience supporting customers on such web applications
- Ability to debug web applications and understand AI model outputs
- Experience with AI systems, including LLMs, agents, or generative models
- Familiarity with modern AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or agent frameworks (LangChain, AutoGPT, etc.)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a remote team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask

- Experience with fine-tuning, prompt chains, chain-of-thought debugging, or building agents
- Familiarity with mercor's AI SaaS platform and its applications
