Job Description

About the Role

The Cyber Security Analyst role at mercor entails working on a contract basis, reviewing and evaluating AI-generated outputs related to threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and security architecture recommendations. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for creating realistic scenarios based on cyber security workflows and annotating, labeling, and validating data across cyber security use cases. Your expertise will help refine evaluation frameworks for cyber security AI, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and effectiveness.

The role requires a strong background in cyber security, with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an enterprise organization, MSSP, consultancy, or government/defense environment. Your expertise in areas such as SOC analysis, incident response, penetration testing, threat intelligence, or security architecture will be valuable in this position.

What You Will Do

  • Review and evaluate AI-generated outputs related to threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and security architecture recommendations
  • Create realistic scenarios based on cyber security workflows such as incident response runbooks, threat hunting queries, and penetration testing reports
  • Annotate, label, and validate data across cyber security use cases like CVE classification accuracy and SIEM alert triage
  • Provide structured feedback on AI accuracy in areas such as cyber security frameworks (NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK) and threat intelligence standards (STIX/TAXII)
  • Collaborate asynchronously with research teams to refine evaluation frameworks for cyber security AI
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of evaluation processes and results
  • Participate in knowledge sharing and training sessions to improve overall cyber security knowledge
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cyber security trends, threats, and technologies
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for cyber security evaluation
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years of professional experience in cyber security at an enterprise organization, MSSP, consultancy, or government/defense environment
  • Background in areas such as SOC analysis, incident response (DFIR), penetration testing, threat intelligence, or security architecture
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate security operations into structured evaluation tasks
  • Clear written communication and attention to detail
  • Professional certifications like CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, GIAC certifications, Security+
  • Experience working with AI-generated outputs and evaluating their accuracy
  • Knowledge of cyber security frameworks and threat intelligence standards
