About the Role

The Cyber Security Intern role at Thndr is a unique opportunity for aspiring cybersecurity professionals to gain hands-on experience in securing modern, cloud-native infrastructure and applications. As a key member of the security team, you will work on real-world security initiatives, collaborating with senior security engineers, developers, and DevOps engineers to identify and mitigate potential security threats. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting threat modeling, penetration testing, and vulnerability management, as well as contributing to the development of security awareness and training programs.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments to identify potential security threats
  • Perform penetration testing and vulnerability management to identify and mitigate security weaknesses
  • Collaborate with senior security engineers to develop and implement security initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of security awareness and training programs
  • Work with developers and DevOps engineers to ensure secure coding practices and secure infrastructure
  • Participate in security operations, including incident response and security monitoring
  • Develop and maintain documentation of security procedures and protocols
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging security threats and technologies, applying this knowledge to improve security practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the business

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong understanding of security principles and practices, including threat modeling, penetration testing, and vulnerability management
  • Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and applications
  • Knowledge of security tools and technologies, including security information and event management (SIEM) systems
  • Experience with security awareness and training programs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
  • Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP, are a plus
