About the Role

The Cybersecurity Associate position at Cook Children's Health Care System is a critical component of the organization's Cybersecurity team, operating within the Office of the CISO. This role is primarily focused on continuous threat monitoring and detection within the Security Operations Center (SOC), playing a pivotal role in protecting sensitive data, applications, and critical systems. Day-to-day, the associate will be identifying, analyzing, and escalating security alerts using various security monitoring tools and following established procedures and playbooks. The team context is dynamic, with the associate supporting incident investigations and response activities, documenting findings, and assisting senior analysts.

The role contributes significantly to the organization's security posture by analyzing logs, network traffic, and endpoint data for indicators of compromise. Additionally, the associate will support threat intelligence enrichment and incident reporting, further enhancing the organization's security capabilities. This position is not only about reacting to threats but also about proactive measures to prevent future incidents, making it a challenging and rewarding role for those passionate about cybersecurity.

What You Will Do

  • Monitor and analyze security alerts from various sources to identify potential threats
  • Use security monitoring tools to detect and escalate incidents according to established playbooks and procedures
  • Assist in incident response activities by documenting findings and supporting senior analysts
  • Analyze logs, network traffic, and endpoint data to identify indicators of compromise
  • Support threat intelligence enrichment to enhance the organization's security posture

What We Are Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of IT experience, with demonstrated proficiency in IT operations
  • Experience with security or IT tooling, such as endpoint protection, network, or system monitoring
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and regulations
  • Basic understanding of threat intelligence and incident response
