About the Role
The Data Analyst, Trust & Safety role at Resend is a critical position that requires a unique blend of analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of email abuse vectors and trends. As the first Data Analyst on the Trust & Safety squad, you will be tasked with identifying abuse patterns, analyzing behavioral signals, and developing scalable detection systems that prevent harmful users and enable good senders to scale. This role is at the forefront of Resend's efforts to maintain a safe and accessible platform for its users, and your work will have a direct impact on the company's ability to protect its users and maintain the integrity of its platform.The Trust & Safety squad is a key component of Resend's operations, and as a Data Analyst, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and product, to ensure that the platform remains secure and trustworthy. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting root-cause investigations of unexpected events or spikes, defining and monitoring key metrics, and building dashboards and reports to provide real-time and historical visibility into behavior and policy violations.

As a member of the Trust & Safety squad, you will be expected to stay up-to-date on the latest email abuse vectors and trends, and to contribute to the development of scalable detection systems that can identify and prevent harmful activities.
What You Will Do
- Conduct root-cause investigations of unexpected events or spikes to identify patterns and trends
- Analyze behavioral signals to identify potential threats and develop scalable detection systems
- Define, instrument, and monitor key metrics, including time to detect, false-positive rate, coverage, and enforcement latency
- Build dashboards and reports to provide real-time and historical visibility into behavior and policy violations
- Analyze signal effectiveness, including precision, recall, drift, overlap, and other key metrics
- Work with data engineering to shape data pipelines and ensure data correctness, coverage, and freshness
- Partner with engineering and operations to A/B test rule changes, evaluate trade-offs, and iterate on detection systems
- Stay up-to-date on the latest email abuse vectors and trends, and contribute to the development of scalable detection systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the platform remains secure and trustworthy
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in data or analytics roles, ideally in security, fraud, or trust and safety
- Fluency in SQL and data tooling, such as Looker, Mode, Metabase, or BI
- Experience working with large event/data sets and strong analytical skills
- Strong sense of measurement and ability to build metrics that drive decisions
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain nuanced analytics to non-data folks
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and build frameworks out of thin air
- Experience with estimation, sampling, statistical validation, and prediction and classification models
Nice to Have
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and natural language processing techniques
- Knowledge of email abuse vectors and trends, as well as scalable detection systems
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong focus on innovation and experimentation
