Data Annotation Specialist, Japanese

About the Role

Your work will have a direct impact on the performance and quality of Cohere's AI models. By ensuring data integrity and accuracy, you will contribute to the development of more sophisticated and reliable AI systems. Your tasks will include reading and text-based assignments, with a high level of attention to detail, as well as evaluating and completing preference-based tasks.

What You Will Do

• Label and rank machine learning data with advanced proficiency in Japanese, ensuring data integrity and quality
• Audit and correct any inaccuracies in language data, maintaining the highest standard of data accuracy
• Complete reading and text-based assignments efficiently, with high attention to detail
• Evaluate and complete preference-based tasks, assessing which responses in Japanese best conform to project guidelines
• Identify and suggest opportunities for improving data quality and model performance in Japanese language tasks
• Provide feedback to cross-functional team members, particularly on Japanese language-related matters
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail while performing repetitive and precise tasks, particularly when working with language data
• Utilize Excel and other data manipulation tools to manage and analyze data
• Collaborate with the team to ensure consistency and quality in data annotation

What We Are Looking For

• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese, with excellent command over English
• Expert reading and writing skills in Japanese, with the ability to prove proficiency through a written test
• Basic familiarity with JSON/TSV/CSV/Markdown data manipulation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to follow complex instructions, navigate ambiguity, and work independently
• Superb sense of urgency and time management
• Curiosity about technology and a knack for tackling problems in creative ways
• A reliable laptop for remote work

Nice to Have

• Experience working with AI or machine learning models
• Familiarity with data annotation tools and platforms
• Knowledge of other languages, particularly those relevant to Cohere's business
