Job Description

About the Role

The Data Center Support Engineer role at Zoom is a dynamic and hands-on position that requires troubleshooting complex systems, managing data center operations, and collaborating with a team of highly skilled engineers. As a Data Center Support Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Zoom's data centers, which are critical to the company's success. You will work closely with the Network Engineering, SysAdmin, and Project Management teams to perform required work within the data center environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment, be able to think critically, and have excellent problem-solving skills. You will be responsible for monitoring and carrying out tasks through the JIRA ticketing system, understanding diagnostic methods for troubleshooting data center infrastructure, and supporting the team to deliver exceptional results.

What You Will Do

  • Monitor and carry out tasks through the JIRA ticketing system
  • Understand and apply diagnostic methods for troubleshooting data center infrastructure
  • Support the Network Engineering, SysAdmin, and Project Management teams to perform required work within the data center environment
  • Manage hardware asset tags and perform quarterly and year-end audits with the Finance Team
  • Repair servers, including replacing hard drives, faulty SIM, Fiber SFP, cabling, and other components
  • Partner with Telco Provisioning to process and track cross-connect orders, validate LOA/CFA, and provide onsite support during circuit test and turn-up
  • Implement hardware and infrastructure for special projects as directed
  • Produce periodic status reports on utilization, progress, downtime, performance, and costs
  • Manage spare part inventory, including packaging and shipping parts to remote data center locations
  • Perform server diagnostic and troubleshooting
  • Ensure the data center environment is maintained and all guests operate within published guidelines

What We Are Looking For

  • 2-3 years of experience in a related field or certificate/degree programs in Industrial Technology, Computer Electronics, and Networking Technology, or Information Technology
  • Understanding of Network Fundamentals and computer hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Previous experience with data center equipment, including console, KVM, and power control
  • Familiarity with the JIRA ticketing system
  • Customer-focused mindset with demonstrated skill in managing expectations, providing proactive status updates, and producing high-quality work product
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff and work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to use independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action to solve problems
  • Proficiency with Google GSuite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail)
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Ability to work on a shift that may require nights, holidays, and some weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
