About the Role

The Data Engineer position at Bluelight Consulting is a key role that entails designing, building, and maintaining complex data pipelines to support the company's core package application and reporting databases. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining data models, monitoring execution and performance of daily pipelines, and collaborating with analytics and business teams to improve data models and data pipelines. What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain data models for core package application and reporting databases to describe objects and fields for support documentation and to facilitate custom application development and data integration
  • Monitor execution and performance of daily pipelines, triage and escalate any issues
  • Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models and data pipelines that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using various data integration platforms such as Pentaho Kettle, SnapLogic, Talend OpenStudio, Jitterbit, Informatica PowerCenter, or similar
  • Integrate data from multiple data sources, including Salesforce and Excel
  • Develop and maintain databases using various database technologies such as SQLServer, Redshift, Postgres, and RDS
  • Ensure data governance and data quality principles are followed
  • Participate in Agile Software Development methodologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during data pipeline execution
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure data needs are met
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience with AWS services, including S3, Athena, EC2, EMR, and Glue
  • Ability to solve ongoing issues with operating the cluster
  • Experience with data integration platforms such as Pentaho Kettle, SnapLogic, Talend OpenStudio, Jitterbit, Informatica PowerCenter, or similar
  • Experience with various database technologies such as SQLServer, Redshift, Postgres, and RDS
  • Experience with data pipeline development using tools such as SnapLogic or Datastage
  • 3+ years of SQL experience (No-SQL experience is a plus)
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service

Nice to Have

  • Experience with BI tools such as GoodData, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar
  • Familiarity with Web Services: XML, REST, SOAP
  • Experience with Git or similar version control software
  • Awareness of data governance and data quality principles
  • Experience with cloud-based data systems, including Salesforce
