About the Role

The Data Engineer - Operations Focus role at Cotiviti is pivotal in ensuring the operational functions of data management are executed efficiently and effectively. This involves a deep understanding of ETL processes, data production, data quality, and data security. As a key member of the team, the Data Engineer will work closely with various groups, including the Engineering team and DBA, to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may impact data integrity.

Day-to-day, the role entails creating, maintaining, and executing SQL scripts for data management and validation, optimizing queries for efficiency, and performing data analysis to identify and resolve issues. Given the critical nature of data in business decision-making, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong analytical and communication skills, is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Create, maintain, and execute basic to intermediate SQL scripts for data management and data validation.
  • Optimize SQL queries to improve the efficiency of daily tasks and data analysis.
  • Perform data analysis to identify issues and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team, DBA, and other groups to resolve environmental or network issues impacting data operations.
  • Extend support to after-hours or weekends as needed to ensure timely resolution of critical issues.
  • Create and maintain dashboards as required for data visualization and reporting.
  • Validate task results to ensure all requirements are met and adhere to compliance rules and regulations.
  • Complete individual productivity tracking and task assignments using department ticketing systems within assigned deadlines.
  • Achieve organizational and individual goals as outlined in performance reviews and goal-setting exercises.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned, contributing to the team's overall objectives.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of working knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL, Vertica, etc.) and experience using SQL, PL/SQL, or other data integration/ETL tools.
  • 2+ years of data analysis experience, preferably in the Healthcare industry, focusing on enrollment, medical claims, and/or pharmacy claims.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with project management tools like JIRA.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects to meet scheduled deadlines and tight turnaround times.
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a flexible schedule, accommodating the needs of a remote and possibly global team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with multi-datacenter F5 deployments and global traffic management.
  • Familiarity with firewall and security platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5 AFM).
  • Experience with certificate lifecycle management platforms (e.g., AppViewX).
  • Competency in automation scripting (Python, Bash, and Ansible).
