About the Role
The Data Engineer role at Weekday is a senior position that requires leading a team of data engineers to design, develop, and scale robust data platforms and pipelines. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for defining and executing the data engineering roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions, and establishing best practices for data governance, data quality, security, and compliance. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver high-quality solutions that meet their needs.The role involves managing a team of data engineers, mentoring team members, and supporting career growth. You will also be responsible for driving the adoption of modern data technologies and frameworks, reviewing system architecture and code to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance optimization. What You Will Do
- Lead and manage a team of data engineers to design, develop, and scale data platforms and pipelines
- Define and execute the data engineering roadmap
- Architect, design, and oversee the implementation of scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines and data platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions
- Establish best practices for data governance, data quality, security, and compliance
- Drive the adoption of modern data technologies and frameworks
- Review system architecture and code to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance optimization
- Manage stakeholder expectations, prioritize initiatives, and ensure timely delivery of projects
- Mentor team members, support career growth, and build leadership within the team
- Monitor and improve system reliability, uptime, and performance through proactive measures and observability tools
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years of experience in leading teams
- Strong technical skills in data engineering, including expertise in data pipelines, data platforms, and data governance
- Experience with modern data technologies and frameworks, such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, and NoSQL databases
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and prioritize initiatives
- Experience in managing distributed teams and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
- Experience with data quality, security, and compliance, with a strong understanding of data governance best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP
- Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence, with experience in integrating ML models into data pipelines
- Experience with DevOps tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes
