About the Role

The Data Engineer role at Zoom is a critical component of the company's engineering team, responsible for designing, building, and implementing scalable solutions for a subscription-based billing system. As a key member of the team, you will partner with cross-functional departments, including e-commerce, Salesforce, Oracle, Zuora, and Data Engineering, to architect and deliver innovative solutions. Your expertise in relational databases, PL/SQL, and cloud-native technologies will be essential in driving the company's growth and success.

The engineering team at Zoom is a highly collaborative and diverse powerhouse, comprising eight specialized departments. Each department is dedicated to delivering seamless and innovative communication solutions, ranging from software development and machine learning to quality assurance. As a Data Engineer, you will be working closely with these teams to ensure that Zoom's user-friendly interfaces and robust infrastructure continue to set the standard for remote communication.

As a Data Engineer at Zoom, you will be working on building SaaS and subscription business models, utilizing both closed platforms and open, cloud-native technologies. Your work will involve designing and implementing critical processes, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring that solutions are scalable, efficient, and meet the company's growing needs.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and implement scalable solutions for a subscription-based billing system
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to architect and deliver innovative solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business requirements
  • Develop and maintain expertise in relational databases, PL/SQL, and cloud-native technologies
  • Work with Salesforce, Oracle, Zuora, and other critical systems to drive business growth
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, architectures, and tools to support data-driven decision-making
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the engineering team's practices and standards
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and apply this knowledge to drive innovation

What We Are Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, relational and non-relational databases
  • Expert-level SQL skills for querying, manipulating data, data aggregation, filtering, and sorting
  • Experience working with RDBMS such as Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, Snowflake
  • Familiarity with DevOps processes and agile methodologies
  • Experience with AI-assisted tools to boost developer productivity, quality, and operational efficiency
  • Strong understanding of SaaS and subscription business models
  • Experience working with cloud-native technologies and closed platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Zuora platform is preferred
  • Working knowledge of HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, Freemarker, and Liquid scripting is an advantage

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts
  • Experience with containerization using Docker
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-based infrastructure
