Design Engineer

About the Role

Supabase is a Postgres development platform designed for growth, providing a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. What You Will Do

• Own the end-to-end design and experience of supabase.com sites, including the marketing website, documentation site, and mini sites.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and clarity across all pages.
• Develop and ship live pages using modern front-end frameworks like React, Next.js, and Vite.
• Evolve the design system and reusable components to keep sites consistent and scalable.
• Refine illustrations, diagrams, and messaging to improve technical clarity.
• Proactively identify areas of the site that need improvement and drive them forward without waiting to be asked.
• Ensure beautiful typography, layout, diagrams, code blocks, etc., across all sites.
• Use AI tools to experiment, prototype, or ship websites, apps, features, or products.
• Write production-quality front-end code using React, Next.js, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and component libraries.
• Balance quality with speed, knowing when good enough is good enough.

What We Are Looking For

• A strong background in both design and front-end development, with the ability to write production-quality code.
• Experience in designing for technical audiences, such as dev tools, crypto, tech startups, or AI.
• Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks like React, Next.js, and Vite.
• Understanding of design principles, including typography, layout, and visual design.
• Ability to work independently in a globally distributed team and manage your time effectively.
• Experience with AI tools for experimentation, prototyping, or shipping products.
• A personal project or portfolio that demonstrates your design and development skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with design systems and reusable components.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and backend development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization.
• Participation in open-source projects or contributions to the design and development community.
