About the Role
The Designer role at Cats Protection is a key position within the Brand and Marketing department, responsible for delivering best-in-class creative design concepts that strengthen the organization's brand and support its mission to improve cat welfare. As a designer, you will be working closely with the creative team to develop engaging designs for digital and print marketing channels, collaborating with colleagues to inspire more people to value and protect cats. The role is remotely based, with a standard 35-hour workweek, offering a great opportunity for those looking for a better work-life balance.The Brand and Marketing department is a dynamic team that drives the organization's strategic goals through supporting vital income generation activity, delivering consistent cat welfare messaging, and driving brand awareness and engagement with key audiences. The Creative team, where this role is based, is composed of 10 skilled designers and content writers who create compelling marketing communications for the charity.
What You Will Do
- Deliver standout creative design concepts that strengthen the Cats Protection brand and support the organization's mission
- Lead design projects across digital and print, working closely with the creative team to develop engaging visual communications
- Collaborate with colleagues to inspire more people to value and protect cats
- Produce finished visual assets across a wide range of digital and print marketing channels
- Effectively and consistently use the Cats Protection brand, ensuring all design work is on-brand and of high quality
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the organization's brand guidelines and ensure all design work adheres to these standards
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and technologies, applying this knowledge to continuously improve the quality and impact of design work
- Work closely with the Lead or Senior Designers to develop and implement design strategies that support the organization's goals
- Collaborate with the content writers to develop cohesive marketing communications that drive engagement and support the organization's mission
What We Are Looking For
- Mac-based design experience using leading creative software
- Demonstrable experience in a design role, either in-house or in an agency, designing for print and digital
- Competent in all aspects of design creation, from concept to finished artwork, across both print and digital
- Ability to apply creativity while working within brand guidelines and practical considerations
- Understanding of current visual communication technologies for both digital and print channels
- Strong portfolio that showcases your design skills and experience
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, taking feedback and direction from colleagues and managers
- Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Nice to Have
- Experience working in the non-profit sector, with a understanding of the challenges and opportunities of designing for a charity
- Knowledge of digital marketing principles and how design can be used to drive engagement and support campaign goals
- Familiarity with design systems and how to implement them effectively
- Basic HTML and CSS skills, with an understanding of how design translates to web development
- Experience with motion graphics or video editing software
