Job Description

About the Role

The Designer role at TED Conferences is a unique opportunity for a multi-disciplined creative to join the Brand Creative team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for creating gorgeous, innovative work that brings the TED brand and its numerous products and initiatives to life across a wide range of touchpoints. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve fluently working within TED's concept-focused and strategic-minded design process, creating impactful and thoughtful concepts, experiences, designs, and identities that embody the TED brand.

The Brand Creative team is passionate about TED's content and the prospect of creating a stronger platform to enable the exchange of ideas worldwide. As part of the larger Media and Curation team, you will be focused on delivering the best experiences possible across a wide range of platforms, including annual conferences, editorial channels, global distribution efforts, new content formats, and more.

You will report to the Design Director and be an integral part of a collaborative environment where no task is too big or too small. Your commitment to the health of the team as a whole will be essential in leading as the visionary on a project and assisting a teammate in the execution of theirs.

What You Will Do

  • Create gorgeous, innovative work that brings the TED brand and its numerous products and initiatives to life across a wide range of touchpoints
  • Fluently work within TED Brand Creative's concept-focused and strategic-minded design process
  • Design at an extremely high level and provide a strong creative point of view
  • Concept and execute identities and brand systems for original video series, podcasts, conferences, and initiatives
  • Extend design systems for events to cover environmental graphics, books, stage design, digital marketing, social media, screen environments, templated signage, merch, and more
  • Create original artworks for TED's editorial channels
  • Own print production from layout through vendor handoff, including large-format signage, conference materials, and print-ready files
  • Present designs and concepts with clarity and conviction
  • Seek out, receive, and apply feedback in order to push your and the team's work further
  • Know how to provide constructive feedback to other team members

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years of graphic design experience
  • NYC-based preferred, with TED headquartered in New York City
  • A broad range of interests, with a passion for graphic design and other creative endeavors valued
  • Expert fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with working knowledge of designing for print - InDesign and Photoshop especially
  • Expertise in Figma, with working knowledge of digital design systems a significant plus
  • Experience designing marketing assets - email, social, display, web - is also a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice to Have

  • Illustration, motion, photography, or 3D skills
  • Experience with large-format signage and conference materials production
  • Knowledge of typography, color, and composition
  • Ability to integrate photography and visual storytelling naturally into your work
