About the Role

The DevOps Engineer position at Cardano Foundation is a unique opportunity to work on decentralized identity solutions and make a real difference in the blockchain industry. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with developers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient development and deployment processes, high availability, and seamless operation of applications and services.

The role entails collaborating with cross-functional teams to build cloud-native applications, integrating testing and compliance checks into deployment pipelines, and ensuring the security and integrity of the blockchain infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related fields, with experience in managing production environments with Kubernetes and AWS.

What You Will Do

  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters on AWS, architecting and implementing scalable and cost-efficient solutions
  • Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, automating application deployment processes for maximum efficiency and reliability
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions, proactively troubleshooting issues and ensuring system health
  • Enforce security best practices, implement access controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Implement automated vulnerability scanning and remediation workflows
  • Write and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates using Terraform/Terragrunt, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
  • Automate tasks to improve operational efficiency using scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Go
  • Collaborate with development teams, QA, and security teams to build cloud-native applications
  • Integrate testing and compliance checks into deployment pipelines
  • Work closely with architects to design and implement scalable and secure infrastructure solutions

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related roles
  • Proven experience in managing production environments with Kubernetes and AWS
  • Solid understanding of web protocols and CI/CD tools
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, LXC, cgroups)
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications
  • Familiarity with helm charts development
  • Proficiency in AWS services such as IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, SSM, KMS, ALB, ElastiCache, Lambda, R53, CloudFront, etc.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry, and AWS CloudWatch

Nice to Have

  • Experience maintaining blockchain nodes, with familiarity with block producing nodes being a plus
  • Experience with service meshes like Istio, Ambassador, or Linkerd
  • Knowledge of event-based and serverless architectures, hosted and self-hosted
  • Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud environments
  • Familiarity with secrets management best practices and tooling (e.g., Vault)
