About the Role
As a Digital Communications Officer at NHS Scotland, you will play a vital role in supporting the redevelopment and maintenance of the organization's web estate. This will involve creating, formatting, structuring, editing, and publishing effective, user-focused web content using your detailed knowledge of content management systems. You will be working in a busy and varied multi-disciplinary communications environment, where no two days are the same.Your role will be crucial in ensuring that the organization's website is up-to-date, user-friendly, and provides the best possible experience for its users. You will be working closely with other teams across the organization to ensure that web content is accurate, engaging, and meets the needs of its users. What You Will Do
- Create, format, structure, edit, and publish effective, user-focused web content using your detailed knowledge of content management systems
- Support the redevelopment and maintenance of the organization's web estate, including its corporate website
- Train and support others across the organization to update their web content, ensuring it is user-friendly and meets the needs of its users
- Produce a range of digital communication content, including website copy, high-quality video content, audio podcasts, email marketing, and digital graphics content
- Distribute completed digital content across a range of digital channels, including YouTube, Vimeo, and the organization's website
- Identify and resolve website technical issues, working with external contractors where necessary
- Develop new functionality and features for the website, in collaboration with other teams and stakeholders
- Provide specialist support in the production of digital communication content, including video and audio content
- Work closely with other teams across the organization to ensure that web content is accurate, engaging, and meets the needs of its users
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in digital communications, and apply this knowledge to continuously improve the organization's online presence
What We Are Looking For
- Educated to degree level in a relevant specialist discipline, or have relevant specialist experience
- Experience of working in a busy and varied multi-disciplinary communications environment
- Detailed knowledge of content management systems, including Wordpress, Umbraco, Alterian Immediacy CMC, and SharePoint
- Ability to create, format, structure, edit, and publish effective, user-focused web content
- Experience of producing a range of digital communication content, including website copy, video content, audio podcasts, email marketing, and digital graphics content
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to organize complex information into logical, coherent website content
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with other teams and stakeholders
- Ability to identify and resolve website technical issues, working with external contractors where necessary
