About the Role
The Digital Marketing Manager at Nabu Casa plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's online presence and driving growth through digital channels. This is a hands-on, execution-focused position that requires planning and shipping campaigns, growing organic presence, and ensuring every euro spent on paid media reaches the right audience. The successful candidate will work closely with the Product Marketing Manager but will also be expected to drive the agenda forward independently.Nabu Casa, as the organization behind Home Assistant, operates with guiding principles of privacy, choice, and sustainability. These principles are embedded in every aspect of the company, from architecture to community engagement. As a profitable company with no external investors, Nabu Casa relies on subscriptions and purchases to fund the ongoing development of Home Assistant and other Open Home projects.
The Digital Marketing Manager will be part of a remote-first team, with the flexibility to work from anywhere but with the expectation of at least 3 hours of overlap in the workday for team communication. The role reports to the VP Commercial, based in Norway, and comes with the benefits required by the country of residence, plus additional perks to ensure employee well-being.
What You Will Do
- Own the performance of Nabu Casa's digital channels, including website, email, SEO, paid, and social, with clear targets for reach, conversion, and subscriber growth.
- Plan and execute digital campaigns end-to-end, from brief through creative to post-campaign analysis, aligned with product launches and commercial priorities.
- Build and improve the organic search presence through content strategy and on-site SEO, reducing reliance on paid traffic over time.
- Run email marketing for Nabu Casa Cloud subscribers, including lifecycle flows, release announcements, and re-engagement, and track the metrics that matter.
- Own paid digital spend and ROI across channels, allocating and optimizing the budget with rigor.
- Report on digital performance weekly and bring a clear point of view on what to prioritize next.
- Grow and engage Nabu Casa's presence in the communities where users live, such as Home Assistant forums, Reddit, YouTube, and adjacent open-source and smart home spaces.
- Test new growth levers, including affiliate, referral, and influencer marketing, with structured experiments and documented learnings.
What We Are Looking For
- Hands-on experience running digital channels, with SEO, email, paid social/search, and content, and owned performance metrics.
- Fluency in analytics, able to build dashboards, interpret funnel data, and distinguish signal from noise without relying on a data team.
- Strong copywriting skills for digital contexts, understanding how to write for a technically literate audience without talking down to them.
- Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM tooling, such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, or equivalent.
- High autonomy, knowing what to look at next without being told.
- Experience marketing a technical, developer-adjacent, or open-source product is a plus.
- Familiarity with the Home Assistant ecosystem or smart home space is beneficial.
- Experience working in a small, remote-first team where you own a function end-to-end is preferred.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Adjust for mobile app tracking and marketing.
- Knowledge of affiliate marketing and how to integrate it into a digital strategy.
- Familiarity with smart home technology and the ecosystem surrounding Home Assistant.
- Experience with community building and management in a technical or open-source context.
