About the Role
The Director, Ads Product Legal will play a pivotal role in Reddit's ads product counsel function, leading a team of lawyers and directly advising the Ads Product and Engineering teams, as well as Reddit's leadership. This strategic leader will drive the development of a coherent legal strategy and risk framework for ads products globally, ensuring alignment with Privacy, Regulatory, and Commercial Legal on risk appetite, escalation paths, and documentation standards.The role involves close collaboration with various teams to ensure the successful launch of new ads products in an evolving legal landscape. With Reddit's rapid expansion into new markets and its commitment to user privacy, the Director, Ads Product Legal will be at the forefront of shaping the company's approach to ads product counseling.

What You Will Do
- Lead a team of ads lawyers supporting Reddit's Ads Product, Ads Engineering, and Monetization organizations.
- Provide strategic advice to business leadership and Reddit's C-Suite on mission-critical ads product initiatives.
- Advise Reddit's Ads Policy teams on scaling across emerging verticals and global markets.
- Develop and drive a coherent legal strategy and risk framework for ads products globally.
- Help drive allocation and prioritization of engineering resources for legal initiatives.
- Build scalable internal systems and processes to accelerate Reddit's launch velocity.
- Design scalable external mechanisms to support product velocity and reduce one-off negotiations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide input during ads deal negotiations.
What We Are Looking For
- A confident leader with 12-15+ years of practicing law, including 7+ years in-house as an ads product counsel at a tech company.
- Deep familiarity with privacy and data protection frameworks relevant to ads globally.
- Significant experience leading an ads product counsel team.
- Strong working knowledge of online advertising ecosystems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to distill complex legal concepts into practical advice.
- Experience with managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
