About the Role

The Director of Business Development - North America will be instrumental in Fivetran's continued global expansion, focusing on developing high-quality pipeline and nurturing the next generation of go-to-market leaders. This role requires a deep understanding of business development principles, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to drive metrics-driven decisions. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

As a key partner to Sales, Marketing, Revenue Operations, and Product, the Director will play a pivotal role in aligning strategies and ensuring seamless execution across departments. The position demands a strong ability to translate company-level objectives into actionable plans, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence within the team.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans tailored to the North American market, focusing on growth and customer acquisition.
  • Lead and manage a team of business development representatives, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality pipeline generation.
  • Collaborate closely with sales teams to ensure alignment on targets, strategies, and customer engagement approaches.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other tools to track performance metrics, analyze results, and inform data-driven decisions.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure Business Development's voice is represented in strategic discussions.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving processes, tools, and overall efficiency of the sales and business development operations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop targeted campaigns that support business development objectives.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet business objectives, prioritizing initiatives that drive the greatest impact.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in business development or a related field, preferably in the tech or software industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide high-performing teams.
  • Excellent understanding of GTM strategies and their application in driving business growth.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Excel, with experience in data analysis and performance metrics tracking.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Experience with business development tools such as Outreach, ZoomInfo, Demandbase, and Gong.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data integration platforms and cloud-based technologies.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools like Looker for data insights and performance tracking.
  • Certification in sales or business development, such as a CPSA or CBDA.
  • Participation in industry conferences or workshops related to business development and sales strategies.
  • Fluency in more than one language, with a preference for languages widely spoken in North America.
