About the Role

The Director, Corporate Communications at Cohere is a pivotal position that will own and evolve the company's narrative globally. As a key member of the Communications team, this role will oversee critical functions including corporate, executive, policy, internal, crisis, and enterprise communications. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to build a comprehensive Corporate Communications function at a fast-growing company in the dynamic AI space.

The role entails developing and implementing comprehensive Corporate Communications strategies that align with organizational goals, values, and brand positioning across internal and external audiences. This will involve partnering with executive leadership, people operations, product teams, and external stakeholders to craft clear, compelling messaging and materials that support business priorities, organizational changes, and market positioning.

The Director will lead a team of eight across various Corporate Communications functions and will be responsible for nurturing how the company talks to customers, partners, and employees. This is a role for someone who likes to take big swings and have fun doing it, where no job is too big or too small.

What You Will Do

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of eight across various Corporate Communications functions
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Corporate Communications strategies that align with organizational goals, values, and brand positioning
  • Partner with executive leadership, people operations, product teams, and external stakeholders to craft clear, compelling messaging and materials
  • Oversee high-impact communications forums including executive speaking engagements, industry conferences, customer events, and internal leadership gatherings
  • Lead AI integration for the communications team to enhance content ideation, creation, and scaling
  • Oversee and optimize the corporate communications channel ecosystem
  • Lead cross-functional storytelling initiatives that connect daily work to Cohere's mission
  • Leverage data-driven insights and audience research to inform communications strategies
  • Direct crisis and issues communications preparedness and response across all stakeholder groups
  • Serve as the central communications hub, ensuring seamless integration and consistency between internal communications, external PR, marketing narratives, and executive messaging

What We Are Looking For

  • 12-15 years of experience in-house corporate communications, ideally within a fast-paced, high-growth tech or AI environment
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful Corporate Communications strategies
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and partnering with executive leadership
  • Strong understanding of the technology and AI industries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to craft clear, compelling messaging and materials that resonate with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience with crisis and issues communications preparedness and response
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
