Director, Data Science (Retirement & Wealth)

What You Will Do

• Lead and develop a globally distributed team of analysts and data scientists, providing clear roles, expectations, and coaching to ensure business outcomes are met
• Manage the portfolio of data science initiatives, balancing near-term needs with long-term capability building
• Translate business questions into actionable analytics work, ensuring disciplined execution and measurable impact
• Partner closely with business leaders to identify high-value analytics opportunities and influence decisions with clear and compelling communication
• Define and uphold data science standards, ensuring rigor, quality, documentation, and production readiness
• Collaborate with others, including data management and the broader IT organization, to operationalize solutions and track realized business value
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, data scientists, and analysts
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data science and analytics, applying this knowledge to drive business outcomes
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field (advanced degree preferred)
• 8-12+ years of experience delivering data science and analytics solutions into business processes in a controlled manner
• 3+ years of direct people leadership experience, including performance management and team development
• Experience leading global or offshore teams (e.g., U.S./India delivery model)
• Strong ability to partner with business leaders and translate analytics into business impact
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effectively conveying complex data science concepts and outputs in a business-friendly manner
• Demonstrated track record of delivering analytics solutions that drive measurable outcomes
• Exposure to modern analytics and data platforms, production analytics practices, and emerging AI technologies
• Experience in Retirement, Workplace, Wealth, or broader Financial Services with the ability to quickly learn Voya's businesses

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or Azure
• Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and deep learning techniques
• Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
• Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
