About the Role

The Director of K-12 Math at KIPP is a unique opportunity to shape the math education landscape for students across the United States. As a member of the K-12 Academics Team, this role entails collaborating with educators and administrators to implement and refine math curricula, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality math education. The Director will report to the Senior Director, K-12 Mathematics, and will work closely with the broader KIPP community to drive towards regional student-centered goals.

Day-to-day, the Director will focus on supporting the successful implementation of all One KIPP K-12 Math initiatives, including the launch of new curricula and the provision of professional development opportunities for teachers. This role requires a deep understanding of math education, as well as the ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as an internal KIPP Foundation Expert for the K-8 Illustrative Mathematics (IM v.360) curriculum
  • Facilitate annual Set the Bar PD and networkwide PD for Curriculum, Assessment, and Systems that support it
  • Maintain the suite of instructional tools aligned to curriculum and assessments
  • Engage in regular Academic Progress Monitoring on related curricular assessments to stamp progress to goals and provide guidance on key network actions
  • Engage in on-site direct coaching via Walkthroughs, Live-the-Lesson Labs, Coaching the Coach, Coaching Meeting Labs, etc.
  • Establish and maintain a regional coaching portfolio to build network exemplars
  • Support direct PD on-site for curriculum launch and differentiation of PD as needed
  • Support the network through pull-in support with any implementation challenges via virtual support, in-person lesson models, in-person PD delivery, implementation visits, etc.

  • Experience with math education, preferably in a leadership or coaching role
  • Ability to monitor progress, communicate status to stakeholders, and adjust plans as needed

Nice to Have

  • Experience with the Illustrative Mathematics (IM v.360) curriculum
  • Knowledge of ACT/SAT and Academic Health metrics
  • Familiarity with systems-level leadership and the ability to drive change through data-informed decisions
