About the Role
The Director, Life Sciences Strategy & Development will be the first strategy and development lead for abridge's life sciences business. This is a zero-to-one role, responsible for figuring out which use cases are worth pursuing, what value the products will drive, and how to structure the first deals. You will work directly with abridge's product, strategy, clinical, and commercial teams to shape the life sciences strategy.As a key member of the team, you will identify the highest-value use cases, prioritize them, and shape what abridge brings to market first. Your day-to-day tasks will include gathering market intelligence from life sciences prospects, existing health system customers, and industry trends to inform product priorities.
The life sciences industry is complex and rapidly evolving, with new technologies and innovations emerging every day. As Director, Life Sciences Strategy & Development, you will need to stay ahead of the curve, anticipating trends and identifying opportunities for growth.
What You Will Do
- Shape the life sciences strategy, identifying the highest-value use cases and prioritizing them
- Gather market intelligence from life sciences prospects, existing health system customers, and industry trends to inform product priorities
- Lead discovery with pharma partners, sitting with executives across commercial, medical affairs, R&D, and market access
- Understand workflows, data needs, buying processes, and willingness to pay for pharma partners
- Build and manage the partner pipeline, cultivating relationships and target accounts across pharma
- Leverage abridge's scale and network to open doors and secure partnerships
- Own deals from first conversation to signed contract, negotiating NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and data use agreements
- Structure pilots with clear scope and success criteria, navigating data, compliance, and trust constraints
- Collaborate with legal, clinical, and product teams to understand what can be sold, under what conditions, and how to structure agreements that protect clinician trust
- Execute 0-to-1 product launches with customers, ensuring ease of launch and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
What We Are Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in life sciences BD, partnerships, or strategy, with meaningful time spent at a pharma, biotech, or health tech/data company
- Proven track record of deal-making and partnership-building in the life sciences industry
- Strong understanding of the pharma buying process, including commercial, medical affairs, R&D, and market access
- Experience with real-world data, clinical data platforms, or health data partnerships (e.g., Flatiron, Tempus, IQVIA, Symphony)
- Relationships with pharma digital teams and a deep understanding of their workflows and data needs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with ambiguity and uncertainty
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-powered platforms and digital health technologies
- Knowledge of health IT systems and electronic medical records (EMRs)
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the life sciences industry
- Experience with data analysis and interpretation, including statistical modeling and data visualization
