About the Role
The Director, Metrology at IQVIA Laboratories is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the global activities of metrology operations. This role entails leading a team of professionals to ensure effective oversight of instrumentation and equipment compliance, driving process improvements, and ensuring high-quality metrics. The Director will be responsible for maintaining oversight of instrumentation and metrology programs, partnering with cross-functional teams to address challenges, and providing technical leadership to identify new equipment needs and budgetary requirements.As a key member of the IQVIA Laboratories team, the Director, Metrology will play a vital role in supporting the company's mission to accelerate the development and commercialization of innovative medical treatments. The Director, Metrology will report to senior leadership and will be responsible for managing a team of professionals, driving strategic initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of professionals to ensure effective oversight of instrumentation and equipment compliance
- Develop and implement strategies to meet laboratory delivery requirements and drive process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and implement innovative solutions
- Maintain oversight of instrumentation and metrology programs for Central Lab and Specialty Lab operations
- Partner with technical teams to identify new equipment needs, budgetary requirements, and RFPs
- Lead investigations with EHS/Quality and drive resolution for enhancements
- Manage outside vendors to ensure effective support of applicable instruments
- Create and deliver training programs and tools for employees on equipment and instrumentation usage
- Drive cross-functional partnerships to address challenges and proactively drive process improvements
- Ensure timely and appropriate resolution of CAPA and quality incidents
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences and/or related field preferred
- 10 years of experience in a clinical, research, academic, or commercial/production laboratory environment
- 5 years of line management experience
- Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics within one department or multiple related departments
- Experience overseeing complex instrumentation and metrology programs, driving, and implementing best practices
- Experience with evaluating and implementing new instrumentation and metrology technologies and improvements
- Proficiency with reading and interpreting engineering documents and equipment schematics
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with quality management systems and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Certification in a related field, such as quality assurance or regulatory affairs
- Experience with data analysis and statistical process control
