Job Description

About the Role

The Director of International Operations and Logistics is a pivotal position at Comfrt, focused on leading the strategy, execution, and optimization of the company's international operations across all non-US markets. The goal is to ensure every customer, regardless of their geographical location, receives a seamless and on-brand experience. This role is critical in driving revenue growth, margin protection, and long-term customer loyalty outside of the US. The Director will partner closely with various departments including Operations, CX, Finance, and Tech to achieve these objectives.

The role involves translating global complexity into structured, scalable playbooks, directly supporting the company's expansion into new markets such as Canada, UK/EU, APAC, and beyond. By maintaining strong visibility across international KPIs and providing timely updates to leadership, the Director drives alignment on priorities, surfaces risks early, and ensures customer feedback and market nuances are integrated into operational decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Own the end-to-end international operations strategy for fulfillment, freight, duties, and returns across all non-US markets.
  • Define and manage SLAs, cost to serve targets, and service standards by market, aligned with business goals.
  • Build and maintain international playbooks for scale, consistency, and structured execution across regions.
  • Drive readiness for new market launches, including 3PL selection, carrier negotiation, routing, tax/duty setup, and go-live planning.
  • Manage international 3PL and freight partners, ensuring they meet contracted SLAs, KPIs, and quality standards.
  • Lead carrier selection, RFPs, rate negotiations, and performance reviews to optimize speed, cost, and customer experience.
  • Oversee cross-border freight lanes, middle mile consolidation, and last-mile partner performance across key regions.
  • Create contingency plans for peak, weather, and geopolitical disruptions to ensure consistent delivery performance.
  • Own DDP vs DDU strategy, HS code accuracy, and duty/tax compliance across all shipping regions.
  • Partner with Tech and Finance to ensure accurate duty calculation at checkout and minimize post-purchase surprises for customers.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and adapt processes proactively.
  • Analyze shipping cost, on-time delivery, cancellation, and returns metrics by market to identify trends and opportunities.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in international operations and logistics, preferably in a direct-to-consumer or e-commerce environment.
  • Strong understanding of global supply chain management, including fulfillment, freight, and customs compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Experience in managing budgets and cost control measures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with international market expansion and launch planning.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for international trade, including VAT, IOSS, and import rules.
  • Familiarity with technology solutions for logistics and supply chain management.
  • Certification in supply chain management or a related field.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with a rapidly growing and innovative company.
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including remote work options.
  • Access to the latest technology and tools.
  • Comprehensive health insurance and wellness programs.

How to Stand Out

  • Ensure your resume and cover letter highlight specific examples of international operations experience, especially any successes in managing complex global supply chains.
  • Familiarize yourself with Comfrt's brand and mission to understand how your skills align with their goals.
  • Prepare to discuss your analytical approach to problem-solving, particularly in the context of logistics and operations.
  • Research common interview questions for operations and logistics roles and practice your responses.
  • Consider having examples of your work, such as process improvements or cost-saving initiatives, to share during the interview.
  • Don't hesitate to ask about the company culture, opportunities for growth, and how the role contributes to the company's overall strategy.
