Job Description

About the Role

The Director of MEAL will play a critical role in carrying out Imagine Worldwide's mission to scale tablet-based learning solutions. This role will lead the monitoring, evaluation, and learning strategy, build high-performing MEAL teams, and drive data-driven decision-making across program implementation. The Director of MEAL will report to the Head of Delivery and work closely with global function teams and country delivery teams.

The Director of MEAL will oversee MEAL frameworks, indicators, and measurement plans across countries, ensuring that the MEAL function delivers rigorous monitoring, analysis, and organizational accountability. This role will provide thought leadership on measurement and evidence generation to drive decisions in real-time, improving the learning experience and outcomes for children.

Imagine Worldwide is a non-profit organization operating across seven Sub-Saharan African countries, providing innovative education technology solutions to empower millions of children. The company has a strong commitment to data-driven decision-making and is seeking a Director of MEAL who can lead the development of dashboards, performance reports, and analytic models supporting the Delivery teams.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee MEAL frameworks, indicators, and measurement plans across countries
  • Develop and maintain Master Data Management (MDM) definitions, procedures, standards, data review rhythms, and reporting deadlines
  • Maintain an up-to-date repository of program metrics for internal performance reporting, proposals, reports, and external parties
  • Ensure that program data is trusted, accessible, actionable, and aligned with organizational impact goals
  • Develop, test, and refine hypotheses related to the Theory of Change and challenge assumptions
  • Collaborate with the Director of Analytics to ensure interoperability and a unified data architecture
  • Establish robust data governance and quality assurance protocols for timely, accurate, and ethical decision-grade data collection
  • Lead the development of dashboards, performance reports, and analytic models supporting the Delivery teams
  • Ensure alignment of all data sources with master data standards

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEAL) with a focus on education or a related field
  • Strong understanding of program data analysis and reporting
  • Experience with data management and data governance
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience managing remote teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in additional languages an asset

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a non-profit organization or international development context
  • Familiarity with programmatic advertising and Excel
  • Experience with data architecture and data warehousing
  • Certification in data analysis or a related field
