About the Role
The Director Planning and Performance Reporting is a critical role within the Queensland Government, responsible for leading the strategic planning and reporting function. This role entails developing and implementing planning and reporting frameworks, providing independent and evidence-based advice to support executive decision making, and driving business improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be part of a high-performing team and will have the opportunity to work closely with senior executives and stakeholders.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include analyzing complex data sets, identifying trends and insights, and developing strategic recommendations to support business growth and improvement. What You Will Do
- Develop and implement planning and reporting frameworks to support business growth and improvement
- Provide independent and evidence-based advice to support executive decision making
- Analyze complex data sets to identify trends and insights, and develop strategic recommendations
- Lead and manage a team of professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
- Drive a customer-focused approach to stakeholder management, including communication and engagement with senior executives and stakeholders
- Develop and implement business improvement initiatives, including process enhancements and system improvements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and prioritize business needs, and develop solutions to support business growth and improvement
- Develop and manage budgets, including forecasting and financial planning
- Identify and mitigate risks, including developing and implementing risk management strategies
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in a senior planning and reporting role, preferably in a government or public sector organization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop strategic recommendations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and manage a team of professionals
- Experience with planning and reporting frameworks, including development and implementation
- Strong understanding of business improvement principles and practices, including process enhancements and system improvements
- Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools
- Experience with stakeholder management, including communication and engagement with senior executives and stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with data visualization tools, including Tableau or Power BI
- Knowledge of government or public sector planning and reporting frameworks
- Experience with business intelligence tools, including development and implementation
- Certification in a related field, such as planning, reporting, or business analysis
