About the Role
As a Director of Product Design at Dropbox, you will play a crucial role in defining the next generation of product experiences and infrastructure. You will lead the vision, strategy, and execution for the systems, patterns, and operating models that shape how Dropbox builds coherent, high-quality, multi-product experiences at scale. Your expertise will be essential in turning repeated product needs into reusable experience infrastructure, including interaction patterns, product frameworks, design primitives, implementation standards, and adoption models.Dropbox is building a modern system to support a broader portfolio of products, accelerate product teams to achieve product-market fit, improve front-end quality, and create durable patterns for the most important product experiences. As the leader of the design team, you will oversee the evolution of Dropbox's design system into a next-generation design and technology platform. This includes the foundational system of components, tokens, accessibility standards, and documentation, as well as the broader lifecycle of product patterns.
What You Will Do
- Lead the design team responsible for turning repeated product needs into reusable experience infrastructure
- Develop and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Dropbox's design system and technology platform
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and research to drive product coherence and quality
- Establish Design Systems and Design Technology as a center of excellence for front-end product quality
- Partner with senior leaders to understand where the product experience needs stronger horizontal investment
- Define the long-term vision for the future of design systems at Dropbox
- Review and improve the details of complex interaction patterns and product frameworks
- Help product teams adopt and implement design systems and technology
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in product design leadership, with a focus on design systems and technology
- Excellent product judgment, strong craft standards, and deep experience leading multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to operate across strategy, execution, governance, and organizational influence
- Strong understanding of design principles, human-centered design, and user experience
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Cloud
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with remote teams
- Strong understanding of front-end development principles and technologies
