About the Role
The Director, R&D Finance role at Twilio represents a unique opportunity to drive business growth through strategic financial planning and investment prioritization. As a key member of the R&D finance team, you will partner closely with product leaders to evaluate investment opportunities, assess product performance, and optimize resource allocation. Your expertise in financial modeling, ROI analysis, and decision support will be instrumental in informing product roadmap decisions and ensuring that Twilio's R&D investments yield maximum return. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing the standard for ROI analysis across R&D, leading business case development for new product launches and feature investments, and translating long-term product strategy into a sustainable financial framework. You will also collaborate cross-functionally to identify growth levers, optimize margin drivers, and improve structural cost efficiencies.What You Will Do
- Establish the standard for ROI analysis across R&D and lead business case development for new product launches and feature investments
- Translate long-term product strategy into a sustainable, repeatable financial framework that underpins our Long-Range Planning (LRP) scenarios
- Partner closely with R&D leadership to assess product performance and evaluate roadmap investments over both short- and long-term horizons
- Provide strategic financial insights to guide investment decisions and drive optimal resource allocation across the product portfolio
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify growth levers, optimize margin drivers, and improve structural cost efficiencies
- Oversee the development of flexible financial models to support ad-hoc analysis, scenario planning, and potential M&A opportunities
- Synthesize and communicate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for executive stakeholders and cross-functional business partners
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of financial analysts supporting our Engagement and Channel products
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in finance, preferably in a tech or software company
- Proven track record of driving business growth through strategic financial planning and investment prioritization
- Expertise in financial modeling, ROI analysis, and decision support
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with experience in cross-functional partnership and team management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Experience with financial planning and analysis tools, such as Excel
Nice to Have
- Experience in cloud-based financial planning and analysis tools
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and lean product development principles
- Experience in a remote-first work environment
